Redox Health

redox_dnaREDOX Health is a new, cutting edge health science.

Cells, at a basic level, convert food into cellular energy. This process is known as the Krebs cycle and REDOX signaling molecules (RSM) are a vital part of this process and are critical to our cellular health.

RSM are miniscule, no larger then 2 – 4 atoms in size and are a combination of hydrogen, oxygen and chloride. RSM serve two purposes in the body. They activate antioxidants so that our cells are able to deal with free radicals and detoxify the body. They also act as messenger molecules both inside and outside of the cells directing cellular actions including cell division.

All health and ageing problems are directly related to the breakdown of the balance of these reactions. In simple terms, as we age our cells become less able to do the job they were designed to. When we have poor health or illness however, the cells are dysfunctional and start doing things they shouldn’t. We see this in diabetes where receptor cells become resistant to the directions of insulin resulting in a rise in blood sugar; in hypertension where cells become damaged due to unchecked oxidative stress, and in cancer where the immune system fails to recognize cells that divide and replicate abnormally. These issues are able to continue because the proper signaling of the cells was not accomplished. This can lead to serious health challenges.

All illness is expressed in one of two ways: a predominance of oxidative stress-related symptoms and signs for example hypertension, heart disease, diabetes and emphysema; or a predominance of inflammatory signs and symptoms such as auto immune disorders, asthma, allergies and cancer.

All health problems are caused by REDOX deficiency where cells are unable to maintain a healthy REDOX potential. Good health can be achieved by addressing these imbalances.

Dr Robertson D Ward states that “Cells by their very nature are driven instinctively to heal and this is directed by REDOX chemistry”. Cells work with other cells in communication so as one cell becomes challenged and dies off, other cells will replicate it so that the body can continue to function. Maintaining a healthy balance of RSM is vital to this process.
